Who We Are
Peninsula Wrestling Club has been a cornerstone of the Portland, Oregon athletic community since 1970. With over 50 years of service to the people of Oregon and Washington, we have remained steadfastly committed to the well-being of all people — especially our youth.
We are sanctioned by USA Wrestling and have been honored as a Gold Medal Club, one of the most prestigious designations in the sport. Our head coach, Roy Pittman, holds Gold-level certification from USA Wrestling — one of fewer than 20 coaches in the entire United States to achieve this distinction.
At Peninsula, we believe wrestling is one of the most complete tools available to develop a young person's character. Self-discipline, respect, resilience, and the relentless will to believe in yourself — these are the lessons our athletes carry for life.
Wrestling demands consistent effort. We teach athletes to show up, work hard, and hold themselves accountable.
For coaches, teammates, opponents, and themselves. Respect is the foundation everything else is built on.
We teach people to see the hero and champion in themselves — on the mat, in the classroom, and in life.
All means all. We welcome every athlete regardless of background, experience, or resources.
Over five decades, Coach Pittman has developed hundreds of champions — from high school state titles to Olympic competition.
